God’s Story

Warning: Connecting with God through Jesus Christ will compel you to love others as Jesus love you.

Of course, if you want to know everything there is for us to know about God’s Story then you need to just read the bible. Creation, the Garden of Eden, the Flood, Abraham, Egypt, the Exodus, Israel and a bunch of Prophets and Kings lead up to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here’s a little snippet.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we saw His glory, glory of the only begotten from God full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 ESV

In the book , “The Word Became Flesh,” E. Stanley Jones describes how God  who is spirit chose to reveal Himself to us. That’s what we do with words after all. We use them to communicate

Our true selves

When we want others to know us we often use words to get the job done. When God wanted to be revealed He communicated through flesh, Jesus Christ. “For in Him the fulness of God was pleased to dwell.” Colossians 1:19 Jesus could walk, talk, eat, celebrate, mourn, laugh and cry with us. He could shake a hand or hug a person. Jesus is the Way the all-knowing God chose to reveal Himself to us.

God loves all of us, yet very few of us got to meet Jesus in the flesh and see God  revealed that way. How could Jesus, confined to one human body, love everyone on the planet from that time till now? What was God’s plan?

Answer. Multiplication

Jesus promises to give us His Spirit making us a temple of God, the Body of Christ.

We become His hands and feet.

As Jesus was God’s Word become flesh so the Body of Christ is Jesus’ Word become flesh.

As Jesus was in relationship with His Father, He loved us. As our Story connects with God’s Story, we love and connect with other peoples Story. “We love because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19 When we love God and love others these three stories converge and as they do, other people SEE God revealed in us. God is glorified.
